California’s Project Homekey aims to use federal COVID-19 relief funds to create permanent long-term housing for the homeless. Palm Springs has allocated $3 million out of its share of the funds to help Riverside County acquire and convert a hotel in the city into apartments that could house individuals and families. The Ivy Palm Resort at 2000 N. Palm Canyon Drive is reported to be the top choice but the Travelodge Hotel at 1269 E. Palm Canyon Drive also is under consideration for conversion.
